
A driver mounted the pavement and struck a 60-year-old pedestrian during a police chase in Derby this morning.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am on November 6, when officers attempted to stop a green BMW. Instead of stopping, the driver veered off the road onto the pavement, colliding with a man in his 60s.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The driver, a man in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any footage of the incident, particularly from drivers who may have dashcam recordings capturing the collision. Police are urging witnesses to come forward to assist with their investigation.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: “A man has suffered serious injuries after a collision in Normanton Road. The incident occurred at 11.30 am today (6 November) and saw a green BMW collide with a pedestrian.
“Officers had attempted to stop the driver, however, the BMW mounted the pavement and as it did so it collided with a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, has suffered serious, but not believed to be life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment.
