There has been a breakthrough in the Alana Armstrong murder and more information has come to light.

Alana, a 25-year-old mum, was brutally killed when a dark-coloured Land Rover followed an e-bike she was riding and rammed it. Alana was a passenger on the e-bike.

She suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The main rider of the bike also suffered catastrophic injuries.

He was taken to hospital fighting for his life. There, he was amputated.

And now there are significant updates in the case.

Suspect arrested in Alana Armstrong e-bike ramming accident. 

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The man was arrested in Mansfield on December 3.

The suspect is being held at St Mary’s Wharf Police Station in Derby. He will be interviewed by detectives very soon.

Mystery dark-coloured vehicle involved in Alana’s murder located

At the centre of the gory incident that has become national news was the “dark-coloured” Land Rover.

The Land Rover was suspected of ramming Alana and killing her. Police issued an appeal for help from the public.

They went as far as looking for CCTV and asking people who had spotted a dark-coloured 4×4 getting repaired or cleaned to come forward.

That vehicle has now been located and is a Blue Land Rover. The vehicle is now being processed by specialist detectives.

Investigation into Alana Armstrong’s death and the £20,000 reward

In the wake of the incident, Derbyshire Police launched an extensive investigation. Two individuals initially detained in connection with the case were released without charge. CCTV footage and witness appeals have become central to the ongoing efforts to identify the culprits.

Authorities have described the suspect vehicle as a Land Rover Discovery from the 2004-2009 range, urging the public to report any matching vehicles with front-end damage or suspicious recent repairs.

To encourage further leads, a £20,000 reward was offered for information leading to the conviction of those responsible. Police have also identified two people of interest, believed to have been inside the vehicle during the collision, and appealed for any witnesses or additional CCTV footage along the A617 near Pleasley.

What happened to Alana Armstrong

Armstrong, 25, died in a hit-and-run incident in Pleasley, Derbyshire, on the evening of November 26, 2024.

She was riding as a passenger on an e-bike when a dark-coloured Land Rover Discovery reportedly pursued the bike and rammed it.

The collision threw Alana and the bike’s rider from the vehicle. Alana tragically died at the scene, while the rider, a man in his 20s, was hospitalised and later had to undergo a below-knee amputation.

The driver fled without stopping, prompting an ongoing investigation by Derbyshire Constabulary.

The fatal collision occurred on Batley Lane in Pleasley, a village situated in Derbyshire. Following the incident, the suspected Land Rover was last seen turning onto the A617 towards New Houghton.
