Residents in Derby are increasingly worried about a man who has been spotted attempting to open doors in their neighbourhood, with several people reporting similar incidents on social media.

The most recent occurrence took place along the Porterhouse-Victory-Ballacraine stretch at around 3:40 p.m. on the afternoon of October 2.

In a video shared by a local resident, the man can be seen walking down the street, stopping at a house and attempting to open the door.

He can be heard saying, “Can I come in. Can I come in.”

At one point, he appears disoriented, looking around and lingering at the front of a house. Residents called the police, fearing for their safety and the safety of their homes.

However, officers who responded to the scene stated that no crime had been committed. They did express concern for the man’s well-being, noting that his behaviour seemed unusual.

This is not the first time residents have noticed the man’s behaviour. In a local Facebook group, multiple users claimed they had witnessed the same man trying their doors on separate occasions.

One user wrote, “Probably shadow boxing again,” referencing the man’s erratic movements. Another said, “Looks like he’s pissed and got the wrong house,” downplaying the incident but still acknowledging the man’s unsettling behaviour.

Although police have said no crime was committed, the repeated sightings of the man have raised concerns among residents. Many have begun to double-check their locks and advise neighbours to be cautious, particularly as the individual’s actions have been noticed by several households.
