A desperate appeal has been launched to raise £950 for Louie, a dog in need of life-saving surgery to help him breathe freely for the first time in his life.

Louie, described as a lovable and energetic dog, suffers from Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). This condition, common in flat-faced breeds, causes severe breathing difficulties due to excess tissue in his shortened nasal passages, throat, and soft palate. When Louie tries to run or play, he gasps for air, making even simple activities a struggle.

In addition to his breathing issues, Louie has excess skin folds across his nose, increasing the risk of infection. Vets have recommended surgery to widen his nasal passages and remove the extra tissue and skin folds, giving him a chance to live a full, healthy life.

The operation is scheduled as soon as the funds are secured, but the charity caring for Louie, which is entirely self-funded, needs to raise £950 to cover the cost of the procedure and recovery.

“Louie has battled with this condition every day of his life. He deserves to run, play, and enjoy life without suffocating with every breath,” said a charity spokesperson. “We need your help to give Louie the future he deserves.”
