“During this time our i4 & indigo buses will need to divert via Chaddesden Park Road, Max Road, Hampshire Road & Mansfield Road via Chester Green in both directions.

“The last & first stop prior to Derby Bus Station will be Reginald Road South on Nottingham Road in Chaddesden.

The work will affect Nottingham Road Cemetery, Cornwall Road, Wayzgoose Drive, Eastgate, Meadow Road, Exeter Place, Derwent Street, and Morledge bus stops.

Derby City Council has announced that a £435,000 highway maintenance project will begin tonight. The work will involve a full road resurfacing and is set to be completed over 15 working days, excluding weekends. To minimize disruption to nearby residents, the project will take place between 8pm and 4am.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Work will be completed in two phases to mitigate disruption. Traffic management will direct motorists through the work, with traffic able to pass through as normal during the day. Surface deterioration has become apparent on the roundabout and this needs attention, given its location and importance to the road network.”

But, residents have been left anxious about the impact. One user wrote: “Expect Nottingham Road to be busier even more then….. Roadworks galore”

Another user added: “It will do nothing of the sort; large numbers of vehicles will be delayed waiting for the odd bus, leading to more congestion and pollution.”

While one said: “So 15 working days. Is that normal working days or Council working days. If it’s Council days double it and add 10.”
