A woman in her 20s was badly hurt after she was run over by a lorry in Derbyshire on a day of tragedies.

The accident happened around noon on Buxton Road. A lorry driven by a man in his 40s hit a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a female in her 20s suffered “serious” injuries and was taken to hospital. She is still in the hospital and there have been no additional updates about her condition

Derbyshire Police arrested the lorry driver on suspicion of a couple of offences. These include:

The lorry driver has been released on bail. While police have launched an investigation.

A spokesperson for the force said: “A woman has suffered serious injuries after a collision in Ashbourne. The collision, involving a pedestrian and a HGV, occurred on Buxton Road, at around 12.15 pm on Wednesday 13 November.

“The pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains.”

Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward. The crime reference number for the incident is 24*677813
