A cyclist was violently pushed off his bike by a man leaning out of a passing van as he rode to work along Nottingham Road in Toton.

The shocking incident, which occurred at 4am on Saturday, March 9, 2024, was captured on the cyclist’s bike camera.

The cyclist was assaulted by a passenger in a silver Peugeot van, causing him to suffer facial injuries, bruising to his arms and legs, and a swollen knee.

His bike was also damaged, with the handlebars, brake levers, and rear axle sustaining significant harm.

Footage of the attack has been released as part of the police investigation, which has already explored multiple leads, including inquiries related to the van’s driver and registered owner.

Police are now appealing for help in identifying the man responsible for the assault.

PC Jon Lingard, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty unprovoked assault on a man cycling to work. It’s fortunate that he didn’t sustain more serious injuries following this despicable random attack.

“We are now in a position to release this footage as part of our investigation and would ask that anyone who recognises the man pictured to get in touch. We’d also ask that he contacts us if he sees this appeal.”
