Police in Buxton have uncovered a massive cannabis operation worth nearly £700,000 at a Derbyshire street that houses mostly commercial properties.

The grow, which contained 800 plants, can be worth as much as £672,000 in street value. A single cannabis plant is worth £840 according to Drug Experts, a leading team of drug and forensic experts who provide expert evidence in drug trials throughout the UK

The drug bust took place on Monday, September 2, at 12:30 p.m. at an address on Staden Lane, following a warrant executed by local officers. Two men, Dorjan Kaca, 30, and Ledjan Papajani, 39, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of cannabis production.

The two were charged and appeared at Stockport Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 4. Police say the two men, of no fixed abode, will remain in prison until their next hearing at Manchester Crown Court on October 9.

Sergeant Patrick Haley of the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team praised the local community for its ongoing support in tackling illegal drug operations. He emphasized the importance of public vigilance in identifying cannabis farms and encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity.

Signs of cannabis cultivation include strange smells, frequent visitors at odd hours, and unusual heat or noise from neighbouring properties. Suspicious behaviours such as the delivery of gardening equipment or sealed-off windows can also be indicators.
