A row has broken out between a Derby couple and the owner of an African Shop that sells exotic foods, following a botched parcel dispatch transaction.

The row about the parcels morphed into a physical confrontation where near-racial undertones were used. According to the aggrieved customer, she dropped off her parcels at Abbey Authentic Food Store on Burton Road.

But she says they were not picked up. She only realised this after her order was cancelled, two weeks later on Vinted – an online selling platform.

When she went to confront the shopkeeper at the African shop, a row broke out. The customer says the shopkeeper was aggressive and kicked her out of the shop while making funny faces.

Taking to Facebook, Rhianna Jasmine wrote: “This is a PUBLIC WARNING, especially to those who sell online and deliver parcels to drop-off shops. I dropped off 2 parcels at Abbey Authentic Food Store on Burton Road and Abbey Street.

“The lady at the store took my parcels and assured me they would be sent. Nearly 2 weeks later I’ve received a cancellation!

“I have never failed to deliver Vinted parcels so I knew something wasn’t right. When I checked again the shop wasn’t even registered as a drop-off place.

“I called the number on Google for the Abbey store and the lady was so rude! She wasn’t letting me explain and started shouting down the phone at me.”

When Rhianna Jasmine went with her husband to collect the parcels from the African Shop in Derby, all hell broke loose. Rhianna said: “I arrived at the shop and tried to speak.

“Before I could get a word out she recognised me and got her back up and raised her hands to touch me and push me out of the shop. She was talking about me to other customers calling me *****, a stupid girl, saying I’m slow and don’t understand English.”

“[Police]came within 10 minutes and … and managed to find the 2 parcels hidden under storage boxes!”

“You know I’m new to derby I recently moved here and with no luck getting a job I’ve been using Vinted as a way to earn some extra money and clear out some space.”

In a video filmed by the couple outside the African Shop in Derby, the shopkeeper can be heard telling the couple to leave and accusing them of being rude. She is heard saying she needs to be called, presumably by PayPoint, before she can release the parcels back to the owners.

Derby Now contacted Abbey Authentic Food Store, but after posing questions, the phone was dropped. Further messages delivered via WhatsApp were ignored.

Derbyshire Police have been contacted for comment.
