The historic hotel has seen a surge in business after new management took over. Lavendish Leisure bought the iconic hotel in May this year.
The new owners brought an expert from Asia to manage the turnaround. He immediately got to work, taking the hands-on approach and moving into the 4-star hotel.

And so far, it seems to have worked. Isuru Akalanka, the new operations manager, who arrived from Sri Lanka described business as “extremely good.
The historic, Grade II-listed hotel on St Mary’s Gate has experienced a significant increase in guest bookings. Most rooms are fully booked over the weekends.

And the owners are not done yet. The vow to improve even further. A spokesperson for Lavendish Leisure said they are “enjoying putting its stamp on the Grade II-listed Cathedral Quarter Hotel” and are “determined to make it a top destination for visitors to Derby”.
The management team has made several updates to improve guest services. They now showcase the building’s unique character.
