A man believed to be behind a shocking robbery in Long Eaton has been charged with multiple crimes, including another robbery in Nottingham on the same day.

Luke Boden, 29, of Maud Street, New Basford, Nottingham, faces several charges concerning a robbery at Cope Jewellers on Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham, on September, 3. Boden is also accused of targeting a jewellery stall on High Street, Long Eaton, in an attempted robbery on the same day.

In addition to the robbery and attempted robbery charges, Boden has been charged with concealing, disguising, converting, transferring, or removing criminal property, and driving while disqualified.

Boden appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 8 at Nottingham Crown Court.

Detective Inspector Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, commented on the case, stating: “We’ve been carrying out robust inquiries since these incidents happened which has now resulted in one man being charged in connection to them.

“We treat incidents such as these extremely seriously and we will always carry out a thorough investigation in a bid to uncover who may be responsible.

“To be victim to an incident like this can be extremely distressing and we won’t tolerate these crimes. Our investigation will now continue.”

The investigation into the robberies is ongoing as Boden awaits his next court date.
