A 13-year-old boy was knocked out cold after a brutal sucker punch on Rowditch Avenue.

The victim was walking along the road around 3pm on Friday, October 11, when he was attacked from behind. His assailant beat him until he passed out.

The boy was badly hurt and was rushed to hospital. His condition was serious and he was kept in hospital for several days.

Police investigation after boy knocked out in sucker punch attack

Derbyshire Police launched an investigation and arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the crime. The boy has been released on bail.

Police say several people were in the area and likely witnessed the event. They are now asking them to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We’re appealing for witnesses and anyone with dash cam footage to come forward after a teenage boy was seriously assaulted in Derby.

“We’re aware that various people were in the area that afternoon and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have captured footage via dash cam, installed in their car, to contact us.
