The real reason why armed police officers were in action on a Derby street has been revealed.
Police were notified of people with guns on Wednesday afternoon in Alvaston. And they responded.
Officers were called to Bracknell Drive at 1:45 pm on Wednesday, December 18, following reports of two men spotted with what appeared to be a firearm.

Two men have been charged after an incident involving an imitation firearm in Derby prompted an armed police response.
Armed officers swiftly attended the scene, locating and arresting the suspects. An imitation firearm was recovered nearby.

Reece Wilson, 23, of Crayford Road, and Jake Faulkner, 26, of Stubble Road, were charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
They appeared at South Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on December 19, where they were remanded in custody.
Both men remain in prison as they await a future court date, which is yet to be scheduled.
Police statement in full after armed police deployed
A spokesperson for Derby Police said: “Two men have been charged with possession of imitation firearms after an incident in Derby.
“We were called to reports of two men being seen with what appeared to be a firearm in Bracknell Drive just after 1.45pm on Wednesday (18 December).
“Armed officers attended the scene, and two men were quickly located and arrested – with an imitation firearm being found nearby.
“Yesterday (19 December) Reece Wilson, 23, of Crayford Road, Derby, and Jake Faulkner, 26, of Stubble Road, Derby, were both charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and remanded to appear at court.
“They appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon where they were both remanded to prison and will appear at court at date yet to be set.”
