A Darley Dale accident has resulted in tragedy after a man in his 70s died.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Darley Dale left a 73-year-old man dead.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 pm on Monday, December 9, on Station Road near the crossroads with Old Road and Church Road.

The man, whose family is being supported by officers, was struck by a silver VW Polo.

A spokesperson for Derby Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision that happened in Darley Dale to come forward and help officers with their enquiries.

“The incident took place in Station Road, near the crossroads with Old Road and Church Road, at around 5.30 pm on Monday 9 December.

“A 73-year-old man died following a collision with a silver VW Polo. The man’s family are aware and are being supported by officers.

“The driver of the car remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

“We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, in particular anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the incident or the moments leading up to it.
