A 35-year-old man, recently released from prison has been jailed after embarking on a crime spree in Swadlincote.
Jamie Finnegan, of Smallthorn Place, Swadlincote, was arrested after he stole from Sainsbury’s on two separate occasions on the same day. Following his arrest, Finnegan was remanded into court and faced charges related to the thefts.
At a court hearing on November 5, 2024, Finnegan was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months. He was also given a prohibited activity requirement.

The order bans him from entering the Sainsbury’s store in Swadlincote for the next 12 months. In addition to his sentence, Finnegan was ordered to pay £45.50 in compensation for the stolen items.
He was also asked to pay a £90 fine, a surcharge of £154, and £85 in costs.
