A machete-wielding thug broke into a Shirebrook home and robbed a resident of his mobile phone.
Ilirjan Ndou visited a house on Sookholme Road on December 5, 2021. He threatened a male resident with a machete during the home invasion.
Ndou then robbed the victim of his mobile phone, cash, bank cards and passport. Forensic detectives launched an investigation and identified Ndou after testing blood found at the scene.

Ndou was arrested almost a year later by police in London and summonsed to court. But, he skipped court on November 27, 2023, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Humberside Police then arrested Ilirjan Ndou on January 3 this year. He appeared at Derby Crown Court on February 1, 2024.

At a further hearing on October 25, Ndou was imprisoned for 12 years.

Commenting after his sentence, Detective Constable, Lucy Bell said: “This is a substantial sentence which takes into account the seriousness of Ndou’s crime.
“Being able to feel safe at home is a basic right, and burglary rips that away from victims.
“In this case the victim was at home when his house was broken into, and that fear of threat and violence must have been absolutely terrifying.
“Whilst no sentence can undo what happened to him, I hope that knowing that Ndou is safely behind bars offers some comfort.”
