A suspected drunk driver is licking his wounds after alert cops in Derbyshire stopped him in his tracks.

Police were tipped off about a driver who was possibly drunk and headed towards Clay Cross High Street. Eagle-eyed cops spotted the vehicle and promptly intercepted it.

The driver, who police say was uninsured, went on to blow “well over” the limit. The driver was dealt with for those offences and his car was seized.

An image shared by the police shows a red vehicle parked on a quiet street, with a police van behind it. A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police’s Clay Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Clay Cross response officers were alerted to a possible drunk driver travelling towards Clay Cross High Street.

“The vehicle was located and a successful stop was executed. Driver has blown well over the drink drive limit and also, showing no insurance.
