Derby County FC manager Paul Warne has expressed immense pride following his team’s commanding 3-0 victory over Bristol City, describing it as the best performance he has witnessed during his time with the club.
Speaking after the match, Warne praised his squad’s effort and execution, noting: “I’m really proud. It was the best Derby performance I’ve seen since I’ve been here.”
Despite acknowledging that scorelines can sometimes be misleading, he was particularly impressed with the number of quality chances his team created and how the performance reflected his vision for the team.
Warne highlighted several key aspects of the match, saying: “We had pace up top, a work ethic throughout the team, and when called upon, the keeper pulled off a save or came for a cross, and someone got a block in.”
He also commended the defence for limiting a strong Bristol City side to only a few chances, and praised his team’s efficiency in converting their own opportunities.
The manager was enthusiastic about the overall performance, even stating that he would have been thrilled with the display regardless of the final score.
“I was really pleased and even if they had scored two goals in the last two minutes and we hadn’t taken the third and we hadn’t won the game, I would still have been buzzing with the performance,” Warne said.
“I’m saying it tongue in cheek, but if I never manage here again, that’s the best way to do it because that is how I want my teams to play. There was so much I loved today.”
Warne’s glowing assessment underscores his satisfaction with Derby’s display, reflecting a significant high point in his managerial tenure.
The victory not only highlighted Derby’s tactical strengths but also underscored the manager’s commitment to his footballing philosophy.
