Derby County somehow came away with a point against a dominant Burnley side that won four of its last five games.

The Rams came into the game on the back of really poor form. In the last five games Derby have lost three and drawn too.

High-flying Burnley, who only just got relegated dominated the game with 68% possession and a staggering 14 shots. But the Clarets lacked real penetration, with only four of those on goal.

The Rams rode their luck and needed super-hero keeper Zetterström to save them. In the 71st minute, he rushed off his line quickly to deny Koleosho a certain goal.

That save came barely a minute after Kane Wilson and Kayden Jackson came on as late substitutes.

Derby County only managed a mere 6 shots, with just one of those on target. The point keeps Derby in 16th place.

What does the draw between Derby and Burnley mean?

For the Rams, not much at the moment. But it will count later.

Derby are 16th and have played 20 games. They have 21 points.

They are level on points with close rivals Stoke City. But the rest of the teams below Derby all have games in hand.

Preston, Oxford, Pompey, and Cardiff can all gain ground and overtake Derby if they win their games in hand. That would leave Derby in the dreaded relegation places.

Burnley vs Derby County result

The game finished 0-0 at Turf Moor.

Derby will be happy with that point.

Paul Warne reshuffled Derby County’s starting XI as they aimed for an upset against promotion-chasing Burnley at Turf Moor.

The changes saw Kane Wilson, Craig Forsyth, Ben Osborn, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, and Kayden Jackson move to the bench, making way for Callum Elder, Joe Ward, Kenzo Goudmijn, Dajaune Brown, and Ebou Adams in the starting lineup.

What does the result mean for Paul Warne?

Paul Warne is a man in need of a win. He will be the first to admit that.

But he may also feel luck will eventually even out. Derby have been unlucky to lose a few games where they dominated and didn’t deserve to lose.

The fans still have faith in him. But a few more games without a win and this could change.

Derby are flirting dangerously close to the relegation slots. As it is they are right in the battle.

Derby County next game

Derby plays Portsmouth next. This is a must-win game for Derby who would want to create distance with their relegation rivals.
