A 24-year-old man has been charged with multiple drug offences and assaulting a police officer following a warrant executed in Sawley, near Long Eaton.

On October, 7, officers raided a property on Peveril Crescent, where they discovered what is suspected to be cannabis. Jan Luca Khan, a resident of Peveril Crescent, was subsequently charged with being involved in the supply of crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin, and cannabis, as well as possession of cannabis.

Khan also faces an assault charge after a police officer sustained a broken finger during an incident on Derby Road, Draycott, on July, 12, 2024. The officer suffered actual bodily harm during the encounter.

Following the charges, Khan appeared before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on October, 8, where he was remanded in custody. He is expected to appear in court at a later date.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said: “A man has been charged with drug offences and assaulting a police officer after a warrant was carried out at a home in Sawley, near Long Eaton.

“Officers carried out the warrant at Peveril Crescent on 7 October where they found what is suspected to be cannabis.”
