
A young woman is fighting for her life in hospital this evening after her car collided with a lorry in Derbyshire this morning.
The woman, driving a Seat suffered ‘serious injuries’ when her car crashed with an HGV. Firefighters were called to the scene to help remove the victim who had been trapped in her car.
The accident happened sometime around 9 in the morning. Police were alerted at 9 am today (October, 31).

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue, Derbyshire Constabulary and East Midlands Ambulance Service all responded.
The road where the accident remains closed, some 7 hours after the accident at the time of writing.
Police have launched an investigation and are still on the scene. Derby Now understands the lorry and the car have been recovered.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a lorry and a car on the A444 between The Dumbles and Overseal at 9 am today (October 31).

“Officers attended the scene and found a Scania lorry and a Seat Ibiza. The driver of the Seat, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and she remains at hospital receiving treatment.
“Both the lorry and the car required recovery – and the road remains closed.”
Victim was rescued by Derby Firefighters after accident in Derby today
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue confirmed attending the scene and helping free the woman who had been trapped.
A spokesperson for DFRS said: “Firefighters from Swadlincote attended a road traffic collision involving a car and a HGV on Acresford Road in Overseal at 9.03 hours on Thursday, October 31.
